Magic Research Links
Every year I would have my class complete a magic literature unit. We would discuss that people were not magic like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. The magicians that we see in magic shows use illusions that they create through science and math. We read literature that ranges from timeless classics as "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" to newer juvenile literature such as the Magic Tree House series. I will try to culminate a list of books that you could use soon.
Our final project in the unit is our magic show. I help them to research tricks. We view some in class and discuss what the magician does to distract the audience to create the illusion. Once I have approved their tricks, they must write their own scripts. I will also work on sharing my process in more detail with you soon.
Below you will find the links that we use to research our magic tricks. As you can imagine, it would not be a good idea for students to research on their own using a search engine.
